Understanding
Etiquette Coaching & Tutorials
Where Do I Start With An Etiquette Consultant?

Most coaches/consultants begin with a special client meeting to get to know each other. The
coach wants to hear about the client's goals, needs and problems during the preliminary
consultation. The client wants to get comfortable with the coach.  During this meeting, both
parties design a list of goals and an action plan to reach these goals. Prior to this meeting, the
client will have the option to receive their welcome package.  This package includes checklists
and assessment materials to make the most of this meeting.

Coaching the Client

In the personal coaching sessions, a variety of training methods ranging from hands-on
experience (such as a dining tutorial where etiquette is discussed during a meal with the client)
to printed handouts.  I will assist the client as they practice their skills by using role-plays.
Role-playing helps you, the client, rehearse how you would act in real situations.

Teaching etiquette to children is very different from teaching etiquette to adults.  Children
learn, respond, and react differently than adults.  Most children & teens don't respond well to
lectures, but most love interactive teaching methods; role-plays, story time, puppets,
multi-media, humor and/or arts & crafts.  The Parent and Child Questionnaire will assist in
finding the right teaching method for your child.

Parents or caregivers play a important part in determining the needs of their child and their
continued success.  I know that most parents don't have a lot of extra time to polish or
introduce dining and/or social skills for an upcoming event or even everyday etiquette.  But
your decision to hire an Etiquette Coach to assist your child or teen, shows that you want your
child to benefit from these skills.  Therefore, I ask that you reinforce our training by
encouraging your child to use their new skills.  Also, it would be beneficial to have regular
parent meetings, which can be just once a month, a few minutes before or after a session, in
person or by phone whichever is more convenient.

How Often Do I Meet With An Etiquette Coach?

Coaching is delivered during regular, weekly or monthly sessions by telephone and/or in
person,
whichever is more convenient.  I spend extra time (gratis) with new clients getting to know them
and creating an Action Plan/Training Plan.  Together we design the best way we can work
together as a team to accomplish these goals.
